The NEa uses its knowledge and experience as an independent administrative body to inform the government and other relevant parties of results achieved, performance outcomes and relevant developments.
The NEa does this by publishing periodical figures, data and compliance reports and progress reports on the performance of emissions trading and energy for transport. These reports are usually based on a European or national obligation. A report is sometimes requested by a Ministry or a report might answer a question from the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer). The NEa may also present developments on its own initiative.
