The NEa carries out supervision in order to verify whether companies are fulfilling their statutory obligations. The supervisory activities consist of inspections and monitoring.
The NEa's purpose with its supervisory activities is to realise as high a level of compliance as possible, while keeping the administrative burden for companies to a minimum. The NEa selects its supervisory activities based on risk: an analysis of the companies, signs and relevant information determine the companies and fuel flows to be monitored, as well as the methods chosen.
