One of the aims established in the climate agreement is to have industrial CO2 emissions reduced by 14.3 Mton in 2030.
On 1 January 2021, a CO2 tax came into force to ensure this goal will be reached. The Dutch Emission Authority is tasked with executing, collecting, and monitoring compliance with this CO2 tax.
The CO2 tax is a measurement imposed only on Dutch companies.
